At the beginning of my ceramics exploration, I primarily focused on understanding clays and mastering traditional forms. I approached glazes as a way to accentuate the form of the piece, and, as you will see when looking at my earlier work, I glazed my pieces primarily with one glaze and without much pattern on the surface. Over time, as I have mastered the ability to make larger forms with porcelain, my approach to glazing has changed. I now approach the glazing process in a more painterly way, applying multiple glazes; creating surfaces with depth, complexity, subtlety, and movement.
